Melbourne: Part 2

I'm back!
After the last blog post, I sat for my exam. The good news is I just got the result and it was much better than what I expected! Definitely cheer me up a little and also my CGPA. Went to Melaka last weekend with my girls. That was the first time we planned such a trip for only the 5 of us. Some quality time spent with them before starting to work.
And ya, I started working. How time flies. I guess my mum couldn't believe that her daughter is now 22 years old and have put her feet into the "real world". 7th of July marks the first day of me being an auditor in GT. I don't know whether my choice of not applying to enter the Big 4 is right. Hopefully everything will goes well. My career, my future and my life.

Continue blogging about my trip to Melbourne.

Day 3 in Melbourne
Signed up a day tour with GrayLine for a trip to Puffing Billy and Heaslesville Sanctuary. Both located in the Dandenong Ranges, about 45 to 1 hour drive from the city of Melbourne.
A selfie to start the morning
The junction that I passed by everyday when I was in Melbourne. I remember I was still horrified by the experience of getting lost in the streets of Melbourne the day before. The worst part is I was all by myself on the street at 10 p.m at night. Considering that it is winter in Melbourne now, it was actually really really dark by that time. Anyhow, I still miss it. What I think is getting lost is part of travelling. What's a trip without getting lost?
It was a cold morning. The wind and drizzle of the rain got me shivering while I was walking to the meet-up point. It takes around 15 minutes to walk from Southbank to the CBD. The must-walk route everyday, I didn't want to spend on the tram ride so I rather walk. Plus, it's so comfortable to walk there compared to Malaysia.

The first stop: Grants Picnic Ground
We had our morning tea here.
There were soooooo many cockatoos which are all wild birds living in the mountains. Look at the one at the top right corner of the photo. So cute! It flew towards my direction and peek down.

Next stop: Puffing Billy Railway
The cardboard-ishh material ticket. I love this so much! It's so nice and old-school. This ticket is for a trip from the Belgrave Station to Menzies Creek Station.

The way we get to enjoy our ride fully. It's definitely something interesting to be able to sit in this way. We get to enjoy the view along the ride.

Lunch: Fergusson Winery & Restaurant
The potatoes were good.
After some googling, I found out that this is their signature dish
Prime Aged Charolais Beef cooked on the turning Spit
The fireplace that keep us warm.

Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery
There were 3 big bowls of these chocolate chips (white, milk and dark) for free tasting. The chocolate there is good. We had the ice cream, a chocolate-flavoured gelato and it was really good too. I bought a chocolate spread there but it was confiscated by the Australian custom on my flight back home. Sad T.T

Last stop: Heaslesville Sanctuary

This place is a wildlife zoo. It should be a fun place to visit but our tour is kinda rush and it was raining heavily when we were there. Therefore, we couldn't enjoy the place much as what we see is very limited. The bird show was ok.

Tasmanian Devil
Wombat
Heavy heavy rain...

After that, we headed back to CBD.
I went to Bourke Street Mall to walk around while waiting for Cheng Mun and Justin to reach Melbourne Central.

Dinner: Gami Chicken & Beer
We had dinner at this place for Korean fried chicken. I had Korean meals for dinner for 2 consecutive days in Melbourne. Catching up with the SMKDP peeps in Melbourne was cool. I contacted them once I confirmed I as going to Melbourne and was really excited about it.

Day 4 in Melbourne

A cup of latte to start the day.
I had this in a cafe at the Freshwater Place after visiting ahyi jiejie's office. The coffee in Melbourne is really good! I should visit some cafe in KL to reminisce my time in Melbourne.

Chinatown in Melbourne

This time I walked all the way from Southbank to the Queen Victoria Market. It took me about 35 minutes I think.
This picture is taken in the toilet in the Queen Victoria Market. I find that this is quite interesting as I've not seen this before. You need to use your knees to "knock" on the switch below the sink to make water starts flowing from the pipe.

Dim sim. According to wiki, it is a chinese-inspired snack popular in Melbourne. They have steamed or fried ones.

We miss the Oyster in the South Melbourne Market so much that we have to buy some and eat again. But the ones from the South Melbourne Market are better!

We took the tram to Harbour Town. It was quite disappointing as there was nothing much there. The shops were mostly closed and the whole place was so dead.

My 2 travel companions this time. It was supposed to be a solo-trip but ended up visiting around with both of them. I am still looking forward for a solo backpack trip to a foreign country. Probably next year?

The place is actually quite pretty. Everywhere is pretty when the sky is blue. I wonder why the sky in Malaysia is not that blue.
Look at the clouds! No edit, no filter, no nothing.

Lunch: Harbour Town Hotel
We finally managed to find a place to satisfy our tummy at around 3 p.m. $15 each dish. The food is surprisingly good. Three of us shared 2 dishes and were so stuffed. The food portion in Melbourne is really crazy.
Chicken Parmigiana and a pizza

The Melbourne Star is located at the Harbour town. We were walking around and found this place called Costco. We were going to enter the place and found out that only members are allowed to shop there. They allow us to get a visitor pass but we are not allowed to buy anything there. The things there are really cheap.

Next stop: Crown Casino
The staff there helped us to register for a free membership and we got a $5 credit. I cash out the $5 without gambling. No guts to gamble haha

After that, I went to QV to meet up with Gene Wern. I didn't expect to meet him at all. He was my accounts tuition mate during Form 4 and 5 and we have not meet each other since then.
Schnitz for dinner. The wrap is sooo good. So are the fries.

I will end this post here.
This post is written while I am awake in the middle of the night to watch the World Cup 3rd placing match between Brazil and Netherlands. Netherlands won 3-0!
